Whilst feeding the birds is a must during wintertime, it’s offering feathered friends a place to eat all year round that provides them with a much better a chance of survival whenever food shortages occur. During cold snaps, birds need high energy foods to enable their fat reserves to survive frosty nights. In summertime, high protein feed that’s naturally occurring is best. Seeds selections supplemented by live mealworm are encouraged if you're filling a feeder, as birds like to snack on insects and grubs during the warmer months.
